On Saturday 28 January 2023, members of the Gustavia Yacht Club were introduced to surfer Tessa Thyssen.
Tessa Thyssen, 26, who was born and raised in St Barthelemy, gave a speech about her campaign to partake in the Olympics. Tessa, who is ranked 3rd in France and 17th worldwide, has been pre-selected to join the 2024 Olympics. In order to secure her place in the Olympics she must achieve the number 2 ranking in France. To achieve this goal she needs to compete in numerous tournaments all around the world which requires funding.
Prior to the event at the Club House the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation donated 5,000 euros. In addition the members of the Gustavia Yacht Club donated 6,750 euros which the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation will double and donate to Tessa’s campaign.
