The rum tasting 6pm till 7:30pm 23rd February for €35.
It will feature a member of our club who’s grandfather was a rum trader and schooner master on Saint-Barth who will take us on a spirited journey through the French West Indies, Tasting rhum agricole, A locally (FWI) produced and exported product of world renowned status for its quality. the unofficial “SPIRIT OF ST BARTHS”. The history of these French West Indian rhums in the carribean account for various focal points from economy to politics. Cocktails using this of rhum that have lasted the test of time will be prepared by an expert for us to enjoy as well as other newer ones to try and make at home. There will be refined complimentary snacks to pair with the rhum as well. The event will be €35 per person with a limit of 20 people. The event will take place in the Club at 6pm till 7:30pm 23rd February. Additional note, both Segeco and H. Ledee are in agreement to provide GYC members a 10% discount for a limited time following this tasting for those interested in purchasing any of the featured rhums or other products.
Kay Quattrochi is presenting new paintings along with some classics for a science themed show at the Capitanerie on Friday, 24th February at 6pm-10pm. Entrance is complimentary but RSVP is mandatory so please email info@gustaviayachtclub.org to be added to the guestlist. There will also be complimentary petit fours and Champagne.
An exhibition between Art and Science: You will discover here the Big Bang, the World of Particles with Neutrinos, Bosons, the membrane of the Universe and the Planck Wall, the Boson field, the notion of space / time and gravity. As well as other theories of these worlds typical of Astrophysics translated into forms and colors.The paintings may look abstract however they all have a specific meaning.The color schemes remain empirical, and imaginative.Like physicists Kay try to express these real things, not yet visible by our five senses, by using the imagination and also the latest discoveries in astrophysics to represent them.
10% of sales and proceeds of sales to members will be donated by Kay to the Club.

The Director of the Port of Gustavia Ernest Brin will give a talk about the history of the Port as well as give advice on how to get the most out of the Port. This event is complimentary and will take place at 6pm on Sunday 26th of March. He will also field questions on this rare opportunity to have him in our Clubhouse.
Carnaval is next week and we will be open to members as a respite from the madness. Tuesday, 28 February,also known as Mardis Gras, we will prepare planteur’s punch and have usual complimentary snacks. Come as you are or dressed in your best Carnaval costumes. Members will be able to join Complimentary and each guest will be an additional 15€ payable at the door. We will have a costume contest with prizes and we are steps from the parade. We will open the doors at 11am till 10pm and have a live salsa show at 8:30pm featuring one of our own staff members who also happens to be featured in the parade with her dance troupe. Following the parade members are encouraged to join the festivities as they end at a beach party on Shell beach that begins at sunset.
Raffle tickets for two pairs of invitations to the owners party on the Lurssen yacht CORAL OCEAN 19th March are now available at the Club boutique. The are 5€ each or 5 for 20€. There are other prizes like member number “007” as well as many more.
The Bucket Regattas are approaching and the Club has confirmed its first opportunity for members to view starts and finishes aboard the wonderful catamaran “Wayayai”. We have secured 8 available places at 100€ each which will go fast so please get your ticket from the Club right away. We will depart from the port at 9:30am on 18 March and come back around 3:30pm. This trip includes complimentary bar service and light lunch aboard Wayayai at glorious Colombier beach. Participants will be able to watch the starts as well as finishes. Catamarans offer ideal way to watch the races as they are very safe and stable given their large size and are also very fast which will allow viewers to see more of the races as they happen.
