Update on St Barth’s very own Tessa Thyssen’s campaign to join the 2024 Paris Olympics with the support of the Gustavia Yacht Club and The Stelios Philanthropic Foundation

We were delighted to receive an update from Tessa Thyssen regarding her campaign to partake in the Paris 2024 Olympics with the support of the Gustavia Yacht Club and The Stelios Philanthropic Foundation. Born and  bred in St Barths, Tessa is well into her campaign to become the first Olympian to represent the island. She has just finished an intense training camp in El Salvador with her trainer Yann Martin. Her days there were filled with surfing and physical training sessions to help her prepare for the next challenge in Caparica, Portugal. She let us know that she feels good physically and is excited about the next competition. Tessa expressed her gratitude for the generous donations (11,760 euro) made by Members of the Gustavia Yacht Club and The Stelios Philanthropic Foundation (16,760 euro) at our fundraising event on Saturday 28 January 2023.  Tessa feels that the support of the Gustavia Yacht Club and The Stelios Philanthropic Foundation have given her what she needs to be able to focus all of her energy on her ultimate goal- qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympics!

Tessa kindly shared her training and competition schedule with us (see below). You can also follow her journey at https://www.instagram.com/tessathyssen/?hl=fr
